The Taiwan Young Professionals And Entrepreneurs Association - TORONTO (T.Y.P.E.A.) held the Let’s Go x3 panel series discussion on October 28. Two Internet celebrities, Shaogao, a well-known Internet illustrator from Taiwan, and Devondine, a famous food blogger from Toronto, were invited to share their thoughts on and experience of social media operation.
T.Y.P.E.A consultant and host of the Project Tenacity podcast Patrick hosted the discussion and in his opening remarks, said “ Internet media is gradually replacing traditional media. Many people here probably no longer watch TV but there is no one who doesn’t watch the Internet.” The two panelists began by talking about how they became involved in social media operation; to begin with they both ran a platform that reflected their own interests on a part-time basis while they continued working; after reaching a certain number of subscribers and fans, offers of commercial cooperation were made and they found that social media operation can actually be a money making enterprise. The panelists analyzed the characteristics and advantageous and disadvantages of social media platforms such as Instagram and Youtube based on their own experience and answered the questions of audience members, providing valuable suggestions.
During the event, T.Y.P.E.A president Tracy Hsu used the opportunity to offer some points for attention to attendees thinking about returning to Taiwan to vote in the elections next year. The event was attended by around 50 young overseas compatriots from Toronto including Young Taiwanese Merchants Association of Toronto President Jack Lo and Taiwanese Graduate Student Association in Toronto President Wein Chien and the atmosphere was lively.
