On September 20, Minister Wu Hsin-hsing chaired the general discussion meeting and closing ceremony for the 2019 OCAC Overseas Chamber of Commerce Leader Program-Phase 2 and 2019 OCAC Overseas Chamber of Commerce Elite Program at which he heard what the participants had learned and various suggestions.
Wu Hsin-hsing stated that the government really needs civil support in its efforts to bring more investment to Taiwan and for startups to develop their overseas presence and hopes that the funds and connections of overseas compatriot entrepreneurs worldwide can assist domestic startups develop overseas channels and business opportunities. He emphasized that the government attaches much importance to nurturing young talent and encouraged the young entrepreneurs present to actively take part in chamber of commerce activities, enhance the power of overseas compatriot entrepreneurs worldwide and support the government; he also invited young entrepreneurs to return to Taiwan to start a business or take up employment.
He then congratulated trainees for smoothly completing the programs and expressed the hope that what they learned will be of use to them in enhancing chamber of commerce leadership and in passing on chamber of commerce affairs in future; and also that they deepened their understanding of Taiwan’s current development trends and investment environment and built contact channels with related outstanding companies in Taiwan to allow the latest business information to be gained and business opportunity cooperation created.
This time, 68 leaders, officials and young entrepreneurs from 49 chambers of commerce in 20 countries on six continents came to Taiwan for study and exchange. The OCAC also held a business opportunity matching meeting to which 18 domestic startups were invited.
Through courses on organizational operation, visits to enterprises and business matching, the horizontal communication of chamber of commerce officials was advanced and leadership talent nurtured in these programs; a platform for exchange and cooperation between domestic and overseas enterprises was also built to further drive return investment in Taiwan by overseas compatriots and jointly promote the economic development of Taiwan.
