Overseas community Affairs Council was established 80 years ago and has been serving overseas compatriot and expatriates as its highest policy objectives. In order to provide the most direct service to overseas compatriot, Overseas Community Affairs Council founded the world's first Culture Center in San Francisco Chinatown in 1985. To maintain close contact with overseas compatriot, we have a library of traditional Chinese Books and Magazines, meeting space for rentals, co-organizing activities and to provide relevant information to overseas compatriot.
The center has been leasing properties since its establishment in 1985. It was initially located in Stockton Street, close to the corner of Jackson Street. Later, the center was moved to Stockton Street near Clay Street to facilitate better access, it was closed in January 2006. The center re-opened in July 2011 to provide services in its present location on 739 Commercial Street
