The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and Association for Chinese Century Culture and Education Development (the Association) held the Computers to Northern Thailand-Overseas Compatriot School Improvement Project joint press conference on the morning of November 5, 2019. The OCAC and the Association have collected 200 computers that will be sent to northern Thailand and donated to 10 local overseas compatriot schools.
In his speech, OCAC Minister Wu thanked Association President Wu for implementing the Project. He said, to date, 1007 computers have been donated to Thailand and Myanmar, benefiting overseas compatriots in northern Thailand and Myanmar, and called on more individuals, companies and civil groups to get involved in overseas compatriot education work to nurture more young overseas compatriots. President Wu said the Project has been implemented for just two years but has seen good results; as well as donating computers, in Myanmar computer teaching has been provided and a computer repair center set up to assist children in remote areas “flip” their lives. President Wu’s wife, directors of the Association and people who have kindly helped or donated to the Project were in attendance at the press conference, around 80 people in all.
