In order to increase the understanding of Taiwan’s cultural diversity of overseas compatriot young, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) selected 36 culture teachers in 2019 to go overseas to support the Overseas Youth Summer Camp and Overseas Culture Teaching Program. There were had more than 17,000 participants and were well received. Consequently, the OCAC invited this year’s culture teachers to come together to share teaching achievements and OCAC Deputy Minister Kao Chien-chih also presented them with certificates of appreciation.
Kao thanked the teachers for their varied and lively teaching that conveyed Taiwan’s diverse and lively teaching methods and cultural skills to overseas compatriot school teachers and students and, by doing so, increased their interest in learning Chinese.
The OCAC selects cultural teachers to engage in overseas teaching tours every year; the subjects include folk sports, national dance, folk art, kung fu, ink wash painting and dragon & lion dancing, the aim to increase the understanding of Taiwan’s diverse culture of overseas compatriot adolescents so that they are a new force supporting Taiwan in the future.
