Overseas Compatriot in San Francisco for support for Taiwan's participation in the 2018 World Health Assembly
Taiwan was not invited to attend the 70th World Health Assembly as an observer in 2017. For many years, however, it has participated in the WHA and WHO technical meetings, mechanisms, and activities; steadily contributed to enhancing regional and global disease prevention networks; and dedicated its utmost to assisting other countries in overcoming healthcare challenges in order to jointly realize the WHO’s vision that health is a fundamental human right. Therefore, there is widespread support that Taiwan should be invited to attend the WHA. To integrate supports to Taiwan from overseas compatriot in San Francisco, Ms. Amy Jong , OCAC commissioner, proposed that every one sign the joint statement of Taiwan participating 2018 WHA and sending it to the Chief Secretary of WHO. Not only did it receive tremendous supporters, but many participants also provide lots of channel to support Taiwan participating in 2018 WHA, such as writing a petition to the Congress member to ask for help, upload a joint statement on the website of we the people for those who prefer to sign online etc. This campaign will going on and everyone is welcome to join in. Hope to get as much support as possible and let international society aware that Taiwan received unfair treatment from WHO.
