To encourage overseas younger generations to come back to Taiwan for education is one of the most important tasks of the OCAC. It has been 70 years since the OCAC initiated its overseas compatriot students policy; as for now, there are more than 130,000 overseas compatriot students graduated from different levels of schools and universities in Taiwan. This policy has helped cultivate numerous talents in all sectors for overseas compatriot communities all over the world.

Today there are 126 overseas compatriot Taiwan alumni associations worldwide.  These alumni associations have played the role of strengthening bilateral relations between Taiwan and the country where the alumni migrated.

The OCAC has been exerted its utmost efforts to carry out its overseas compatriot students policy, measures of which include:

  1. To extend the scope of "Industrial training program for overseas compatriot students"
  2. To provide overseas compatriot students necessary assistance, for example, ;learning and living assistance, scholarship, emergency assistance, medical insurance, etc.
  3. To provide various training courses and seminars to help overseas compatriot young people better understand Taiwan's culture, mandaring learning facilities as well as political, economic, and social developments. Primary courses and seminars for the overseas youth include Technical training courses, Mandarin Chinese training courses, Volunteer English teaching program, Experiencing Taiwan program, etc.
