The UK Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce and Junior Chapter held the Mid-Autumn Festival Party and Members'Assembly on September 8. Taiwan Representative in the UK Kelly Wu-Chiao Hsieh and his wife as well as staff from the Economic Division and Expatriate Affairs Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. attended. The Taipei Representative Office also used the occasion to invite OCAC honorary staff in the UK to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival.
UK Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce Chairlady Evelyn Lee invited Leona's Wine & Tea Podcast's Leona De Pasquale to introduce various Bordeaux wines to everyone and attendees were also able to taste selected red and white wines; OCAC Coordinator Jessica Chen drove all the way from Cambridge to share moon cakes handmade in the family bakery to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival.
The UK Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce used the occasion to hold its members' assembly in which revisions to the charter and other chamber affairs were announced; members were also reminder to quickly register for the ROC National Day boat trip for overseas compatriot academics in the UK to avoid missing out.
Sadly, just before the dinner began, news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II was released, to the shock of everyone. Representative Hsieh led everyone is observing three-minute's' silence in her honor. Everyone had mixed feelings on hearing the sad news at a festive time and it reminded them to cherish time spent with good friends on the eve of Mid-Autumn Festival.
