For decades, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (O.C.A.C.) has been committed to providing high-quality Mandarin learning resources and an environment for overseas compatriot youth. Since 2020, the physical Mandarin study courses have been called off due to the impact of COVID-19. To ensure overseas compatriot youth continuously improve their Chinese language abilities, and to further understand Taiwan's culture and overall development in the future, O.C.A.C., combining the Internet and digital technology, organizes Language Study Program for Compatriot Youth (Distance Learning).
The students will be divided into small classes (up to 5 students per class) according to their result of TOCFL (Speedy Screening system). In addition to Mandarin courses, the program also provides cultural courses, exploration in Taiwan and introduction to Taiwan's high-tech industry.
The Regional Class for Philippines is co-organized by the Chinese Language Center of Tamkang University. The Chinese Language Center of Tamkang University is experienced in teaching Mandarin online and has taught more than 1,500 students from 2020 to 2021.
The Regional Class for Philippines is from June 13 to July 22, and the simultaneous courses are held on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The morning session is from 9 am to 11 am while the afternoon session is from 3 pm to 5 pm (in Taiwan timezone GMT+8) with a total of 36 hours.
