On September 28, 1986, the OCAC rented the 3rd floor of 475 Juan Luna St., Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz, Binondo, Manila and established the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, with an area of 375 square meters, becoming the first community center of OCAC in Asia. This development would better serve the overseas compatriot immigrants in the Philippines.
In February of 1994, after careful examination and after receiving approval, Room 1004 of the Federal Tower located at the corner of Dasmariñas St. and Muelle de Binondo, in the Binondo area of Manila, with an area of 433.53 square meters. Current facilities include a medium-sized auditorium with an 100 person capacity used as a meeting room for overseas community organizations. A public library boasting a collection of over six thousand volumes of books, including Taiwanese magazines, is available for public browsing and reading.
The Culture Center was primarily established to provide venues for various gatherings, cultural, and educational activities for overseas community organizations. It also hosts various seminars and talks, offers consultation services for overseas students intending to study in Taiwan, and provides Mandarin language book lending services. By offering quality venues and comprehensive services, the aim is to unite the overseas compatriot immigrants enhance its cohesion.
