The proposal of Cape Town Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in South Africa – Junior Chapter (CTTCCJC) was launched by overseas compatriot youth at the Youth Cross-area Exchange Meeting hosted by Taipei Liaison Office in Cape Town on May 22. Ya-Fan Wong, overseas lawyer of the Overseas Community Affairs Council's Global Overseas Compatriot Legal Consulting Advisory Group, was elected as convenor of the preparatory committee as the network of the young group was formed. Furthermore, it took them about two months to get ready for CTTCCJC.
The Inaugural meeting which held on July 24 chaired by Jimmy Wang, the President of Cape Town Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce. In addition, the meeting was joined by Shu-Ying Liu, Senior Adviser of Overseas Community Affairs Council, Bruce Lam, Honorary Vice President of Africa Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce, Director General David Yintso Lin, Lisa Lee, First Assistant Director, and Guan-Ting Luo, Third Assistant Director of Taipei Liaison Office in Cape Town. During the meeting, Ya-Fan Wong was unanimously elected as the Inaugural President, with dentist Chun-Wei Lee and Tony Chang as the Vice Presidents. As a result of the meeting, the Bylaws of CTTCCJC was drafted, proclaiming that the CTTCCJC is affiliated with the Africa Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce.
In David Yintso Lin's speech, he envisions that the CTTCCJC becomes the platform for overseas compatriots to network and nurture business opportunities. He believes that the next generation is aspired to support one another in future obstacles. The assembly was delightedly adjourned as a generous donation by Shu-Ying Liu, Jimmy Wang and Ya-Fan Wong contributed towards the operating fund of the CTTCCJC.
