Appearance Photo of Building of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative office in the US
Washington D.C., the U.S. capital as well as the center of global politics, is a landmark city for all overseas expatriate communities in the U.S.A. For years, the Overseas Community Affairs Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Taipei Economic & Cultural Representative Office in the U. S. (TECRO) had been working on the establishment of the Culture Center of TECRO. The plan for establishing the Culture Center of TECRO was approved by the Executive Yuan of R.O.C. (Taiwan) in 1997. In early November of 2000, the American Institute in Taiwan approved the TECRO's proposal to build a center in Gaithersburg, Maryland, located in the suburban area of D.C.. The construction project was initiated on February 29, 2004 and the grand opening was held on June 19, 2005.
The mission of the Culture Center of TECRO is to provide diversified services to our expatriates in the Greater Washington D. C. area covering Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia and Washington D.C.. Our services include liaison services, overseas compatriot education promotion and overseas compatriot operated business development. The Center also aims to promote the Taiwanese culture and enhance the interaction with the mainstream society.
