Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Paraguay Junior Chapter Holds a mid-Autumn Festival event for members in Asunción
On August 20, the Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Paraguay Junior Chapter (TCCPJC) held a social event for its members in the Asunción area. Asunción area members attended with their relatives and children. Also attending the grand occasion were Vice President of the Asociación China en Asunción Paraguay and OCAC Coordinator Yi-hua Lee and first TCCPJC Secretary General Kuo Fu-lung and Chief Financial Officer Sonia Karnani. First, Asunción Vice President Su-hwa Chen welcomed new members. Originally, the Asunción area only had four members but added four new members through this social event. It is hoped that TCCPJC operations can gradually increase in the area. Then, the President reported on activities over the last year, sharing the results with everyone. While most TCCPJC activities in the past were centered on Ciudad del Este, this event provided an opportunity for members to discuss activities that can be held in the Asunción area in the next year. Vice President of the Asociación China en Asunción Paraguay and OCAC Coordinator Yi-hua Lee  also attended. He said he was happy to see the TCCPJC grow in the Asunción area and that the Asociación is also continually recruiting new members. He expressed the hope that more young people can be involved in providing services to the overseas community and also that the two organizations have opportunities for cooperation in future. Sonia Karnani also arranged festive Mid-Autumn Festival interactive games for the event, having an enjoyable festival with members and their families amidst a happy atmosphere. At the end, on behalf of the TCCPJP, Chen Si-hua handed out Mid-Autumn Festival gift boxes to Asunción area members and wished all members a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival.

Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of New York and Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce of New York held the Overseas Compatriot and Taiwanese Entrepreneur Industry-Academia Cooperation and Finance and Real Estate Explanatory Meeting
On the evening of August 23, the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of New York (TCCNY) and Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce of New York (TJCCNY) held the Overseas Compatriot and Taiwanese Entrepreneur Industry-Academia Cooperation and Finance and Real Estate Explanatory Meeting. As it was held on an ordinary evening, as well as those attending physically quite a few overseas compatriots attended remotely. Director Chen Yong-feng of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Culture Center in New York was invited to introduce the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) "Overseas compatriot entrepreneurs with industry-academia cooperative service programs" and "overseas compatriot and Taiwanese entrepreneur industry-academia service handbooks" compiled by universities in Taiwan, hoping that overseas compatriot and Taiwanese entrepreneurs of different generations can combine their particular expertise with the resources of Taiwan’s industry, academic and R&D units, linking domestic and innovative R&D results with overseas compatriots and Taiwanese entrepreneurs to serve as the foundation for increasing their competitiveness and industry upgrading. At the same time, Chen also invited everyone to attend the Training Program for Overseas Chambers of Commerce Official and Young Entrepreneurs to be held in Mid-October in Taiwan.  This event also had lectures on finance and real estate, two subjects that young people are interested in; the speakers CEO of Core Continental Construction Joey Chiang, Vice President of Goldman Sachs New York Head Office Vincent Lin and Manager of the Business Development Division of First Bank of New York Bing Chen talked about the secrets of real estate investment, and analyzed the current financial markets and the effect of a strong dollar on the world, giving tips on investment and money management to everyone in an easy to understand way and stressing the importance of timing; of course, risk management was not ignored, hoping that the young people can pursue a steady investment strategy in future.

List of prizewinners for the 2022 Singing Competition for Overseas Compatriot School Students and Overseas Compatriot Students Studying in Taiwan released
1The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) 2022 Singing Competition for Overseas Compatriot School Students and Overseas Compatriot Students Studying in Taiwan came to a successful end. In the Overseas Compatriot Students Studying in Taiwan category, Jonathan Lee Hoe, from Malaysia and a student at Tainan National University of the Arts, was sole winner, taking away NT$100,000 in prizemoney and will appear at the National Day Party. The Overseas Compatriot School Student category was won by Malaysia's LIEW JIAN-XU of Pin Hwa High School, who won a US$3600 scholarship. <br><br> This year, the OCAC used technology to overcome obstacles caused by the pandemic to jointly hold the 2022 Singing Competition for Overseas Compatriot School Students and Overseas Compatriot Students Studying in Taiwan with the Ministry of Culture and Hakka Affairs Council. The preliminary round used AI for selection. The grand final was held at Hana-space on the afternoon of September 17, and was attended by Vice Minister Roy Yuan-rong Leu, on behalf of OCAC Minster Dr.Tung Chen-yuan, who gave a speech in which he encouraged the new generation of overseas compatriot students to learn Mandarin through music. Guests in attendance included Chief Secretary of the Hakka Affairs Council Liao Yu-pei, Head of the Department of Cultural Exchange of the Ministry of Culture Gui Ye-chin, President of the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre Ms. Sharon Ho Swee Peng, Director of the Department of Economic Affairs Syajaratud Abdullah, President of the Oversees Chinese Association HQ Lin Qi-guo, and President of the Federation Of Overseas Chinese Associations Zheng Zhi-yi.<br><br> This year's final categories included the Overseas Compatriot Students Studying in Taiwan Category and Overseas Compatriot School Student category; also, Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning category student Paul Dawson sang and shared his thoughts about learning Mandarin. The event was livestreamed to the world to allow friends around the world to join in the grand occasion. The grand final this year had an impressive panel of judges, including Ting Hsiao-wen, Bing Wang and Eric Chen.
