Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles provides i-Taiwan Window consultation services
Former president of the Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Los Angeles-Junior Chapter (TJCC Los Angeles) and founder of Peek2 Eric Fu visited the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Los Angeles recently where he was received by Director Tony Ong. Fu reported on Peek2’s current startup situation to Ong and said that the 3D software he developed to provide customized physical space digitization services has been affirmed by the market;he also said that he has recruited employees in Taiwan and will invest in Taiwan in future.  Director Ong introduced the various services of i-Taiwan Window and how it helps young entrepreneurs link with related government units in Taiwan, including investment cannels and methods, Taiwan trade and economic and technology information, with requests for consulting accepted by and service provided through the single window counter at Culture Center of TECO in Los Angeles. He stressed that the Window can provide information on-the-spot for the reference of young entrepreneurs from the websites of the Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Economic Affairs, National Immigration Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Education and the International Cooperation and Development Fund; it can also provide customized consulting in accordance with the requirements of each case allowing young entrepreneurs to quickly check on line, helping them entrepreneurs obtain detailed information and achieving the objective of strengthening the linkage between young entrepreneurs and Taiwan.

Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce Chicago holds the Taste of Taiwan on Water event
Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce Chicago (TJCCC) held the Taste of Taiwan on Water event on June 9. More than 150 people comprising of young entrepreneurs from across North America and overseas community representatives were in attendance. Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago Director General Eric Huang also attended. The venue for the event was a yacht. Amidst a lively atmosphere, the young entrepreneurs enjoyed the architectural beauty of Chicago from the water while enjoying a variety of authentic and exquisite Taiwanese foods. Eric Huang affirmed the talent and vitality of the members of the TJCCC and its long-term assistance to the government in terms of promoting Taiwan-US economic and trade relations and youth diplomacy and expressed the hope that, in future, the TJCCC can work more closely with the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office  in Chicago and the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago. During the event, the handover ceremony for president of the TJCCC was conducted, with Sophia Huang passing the position to Luke Lin. Eric Huang  thanked the team  for supporting and assisting the work of the TJCCC over the last year and said that the organization will continue to recruit and  nurture more young officials  and cooperate further with Taiwanese and US enterprises to promote Taiwanese culture. Luke Lin introduced the new team and said that, in future, the TJCCC will share more business experience through discussion meetings and new media and other means to help young people work and develop their careers in the US; he also expressed the hope that more young people in the Chicago area will join the TJCCC to inject fresh blood and allow its work to continue. Authentic Taiwanese foods provided by different hotels and restaurants were provided on the day. Taiwanese magician Jimmy was also invited from Taiwan to perform. Everyone enjoyed a Taiwanese feast.

The 2019 Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program in Taiwan helps children in rural areas learn English
The closing ceremony and farewell dinner for the 2019 Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program in Taiwan were held on July 26. 546 young volunteers from the US, Canada, UK and Australia received the Certificate of Volunteer Service from Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Vice Minister Roy Yuan-Rong Leu. On behalf of OCAC Minister Wu Hsin-hsing, Leu thanked the volunteers for using their summer vacation to travel a long way to Taiwan to serve as volunteer English teachers to increase the English-learning motivation of elementary and junior high school students in rural areas.  Under the Program, since 2006, 4,850 overseas youth have come to Taiwan to teach English as volunteers and more than 35,000 students have benefitted. The 88 participating schools are in remote areas or areas lacking teaching resources in 15 cities and counties nationwide. Leu encouraged more overseas youth to come to Taiwan to teach under the program so that it can continue to develop over the long term. The OCAC began holding the Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program in Taiwan since 2006, together with the Ministry of Education, encouraging young people from English speaking countries to use their summer vacation to come to Taiwan to serve as volunteer English teachers in elementary and junior high schools that are in rural areas or places that lack resources.

The Federation of Alumni Association of Taiwan Universities Malaysia celebrates its 45th anniversary OCAC Vice Minister Leu offers congratulations
On July 20, The Federation of Alumni Association of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia (FAATUM) held the 45th Chinese Culture Night. The event was hosted by the FAATUM’s President Dato'Ting Siew Haw and attended by Roy Leu Yuen-rong, the Vice Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC). In total, around 600 people attended the grand event. Leu expressed gratitude and best wishes to the Federation on behalf of Minister  Wu Hsin-hsing and said that the OCAC will continue to effectively carry out the work of taking care of overseas compatriot students and contacting Taiwan alumni. He also thanked the FAATUM for the long-term support in promoting cultural and academic exchange between Taiwan and Malaysia.
